Well known for its time in the spotlight during the time of The Beatles, the AC30 has long been used by many musicians for its unique, powerful sound. Technology has of course changed, and there have been a handful of improvements added to this new incarnation that many guitarists will find extremely helpful.
 
Two channel setup
The Vox AC30C2 Red offers two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. Each is equipped with its own Volume control and the Top Boost channel offers additional Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that is all your own. Both channels rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section.
The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone-shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the Custom Series can deliver everything from that clean VOX sound to powerful overdriven tones.
Effects
While you can certainly get British tones out of the Vox AC30C2, this 30-watt 2x12-inch combo amp features a new range of sounds. Sweeten the sound using the tremolo effect, adjusting speed and depth. The warm Spring Reverb onboard to adds space to your guitars tone. The Vox AC30C2 combos Reverb and Tremolo effects can be turned on and off via footswitch. The Vox AC30C2 also features a true bypass effects loop for bringing your favorite stompboxes in and out of the signal path. True bypass switching takes the entire effect loop out of the circuit.
